Public Works Educational Conference – November 9, 2022 – Register Here

The Public Works Educational Conference has returned and will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Loyd E. Williams Pipe Trades Training Center, 780 Commercial Street, in San Jose.  Keynote speakers include Ken Lau, Dept. of Industrial Relations - Ruben Rosales, Dept. of Labor - Eric Rood, Dept. of Apprenticeship Standards and Jill Nerone, Assistant DA, Insurance Fraud and Labor Trafficking. On December 9, 2021, Steve Flores - 393 Business Manager, informed the membership via posting and e-newsletter, the following:  Dear UA Local 393 Sisters and Brothers, The UA Local 393 election for officers and committee members was held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. The results of these elections are listed below. There was a tie for the final delegate position on the Building Trades Council between Nate Cogburn and Ed Nichols. Training Center Update

Brian Murphy is the 393 Pipe Trades Training Center Coordinator. He’s led the efforts to create a hybrid learning model, bringing apprentices both online classes and Covid-safe in-person labs. “The pandemic has forced the Training Center to modernize is ways we only dreamed of before,” said Brian. “It was a steep learning curve for both the apprentices and the instructors to move courses online.
